Your favourite Vespa-driving, crime-solving, one-of-a-kind nun returns to VisionTV! Season 2 of Sister Boniface Mysteries premieres Mondays at 8pm ET from April 10 through June 12, 2023.
It’s the 1960s and Sister Boniface, with her aptitude for detective work, is an invaluable asset to the Great Slaughter Police Department. Her faith in forensics is only rivaled by her passion for investigation. If there’s evidence to be found, Boniface will find it. Played brilliantly by Lorna Watson, the character of Sister Boniface first appeared in an episode of Father Brown in 2013 and quickly became a fan favourite. The scientifically-skilled nun earned her very own spin-off series with Season 1 premiering in 2022 to great acclaim from the most passionate mystery lovers.
In Season 2, the Sister takes on a whole new set of cases, which include forcing a murderer into checkmate at a chess tournament, taking a spin at a pirate radio station, confronting a coven of witches and defending her own reputation as the conviction of her greatest adversary, “The Good Samaritan”, comes into question.
Returning cast members include the brawny Police Inspector Sam Gillespie (Max Brown), Felix Livingstone (Jerry Iwu), Ruth Penny (Miranda Raison) and Peggy Button (Ami Metcalf). By the end of Season 1, each character had formed a strong bond with Sister Boniface, and have natural chemistry with each other that allows for comedy and levity between the investigations of such grisly murders.
“We are absolutely thrilled to see Sister Boniface return for a second series,” says executive producer Will Trotter, who has also served as executive producer for Father Brown and Shakespeare and Hathaway. “Jude Tindall and the team of writers have created unforgettable characters full of wit and mischief. Lorna Watson’s performance is as forensic as her character – the sharp intelligence, charm and warmth she brings to the role is an irresistible combination. The entire cast and crew have been a joy to work with and I think that shines through in this big hearted and hugely original show.”
Ahead of Season 2, let’s take this opportunity to get to know this loveable cast a little better. Check out the actors’ take on all things British culture, and don’t forget to tune in Mondays at 8pm ET / 5pm PT from April 10 through June 12 to see them back in action!
